What inspired us to make the film

Florencia has been studying and learning from Marina Cruz for years. The Cruz family are all members of the Maya Tzutujil tribe, the guardians of cacao. Since cacao ceremonies are becoming so popular in western society we found it prudent to make a film telling the story of where these ceremonies originate.

Pedro Cruz Tata Pedro Cruz was awarded the title “K’U’XYA” meaning “Heart of Lake Atitlan”, by his fellow Mayan Council of Elders and Tz’utujil people. His teachings include Mayan Cosmology and guidance on the sacred calendars. He is known globally for his profound yet practical ways of sharing the ancestral wisdom of the Maya.
